Swindon Hyundai 22 November 2007

TRENDY Emma Gilligan has swapped the world of catwalk models for a showroom full of Hyundai models, after taking up a sales role at Pebley Beach Swindon Hyundai.

Now the fashion textile design graduate is tuning her skills to the showroom environment as a trainee sales executive.

“Cars are a lot about image, fashion and presentation,” said Emma (22) from Faringdon. “But, like clothes, they need to be practical and affordable whilst maintaining a sense of style.”

With the launch of Hyundai’s new i models, it seems Emma joined Pebley at the right time. The Korean manufacturer has made clear its intention to move upmarket, aiming its cars at sophisticated customers while retaining its sense of affordability.

The first of the i models – the Focus and Golf-sized i30 – garnered rave reviews. Auto Express said “Hyundai has a model that can take its place among class leaders” while Autocar said “Hyundai has already proved it can build a car fully competitive with class members on raw ability and not just short-term showroom appeal – and that alone means the i30 deserves to be taken seriously by buyers and rivals alike.”

“The i30 looks great,” said Emma, “and is packed with luxuries that sends it chasing the BMW 1 series or MINI markets.”

A veteran of fashion shows in New York and Paris, as well as a stint at the public relations department at Debenhams in London, has given Emma good grounding in customer service. “I’m aware that the way the showroom looks and the way customers are greeted when they walk through the door is vital to the business,” said Emma.

Meanwhile, if you ever find yourself pondering which interior trim goes best with the paintwork on the new Hyundai you’re about to order, you could do worse than have a quiet word with Emma.
